Community guidelines

Sonic Scene is a fan site for everyone who loves Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and friends. Members can share their own fan art, fan fiction and reader reviews, and a moderator checks every submission before it appears on the site. These guidelines keep Sonic Scene a friendly place for fans of all ages.

Who can join

You need to be 13 or over to create an account. One account per person, please.

What you can share

  • Fan art: your own drawings, paintings, digital art, sketches, pixel art and crafts of Sonic and friends.
  • Fan fiction: your own stories set in Sonic’s world, from one-off tales to chapter-by-chapter series.
  • Reader reviews: your honest verdict on any Sonic game with a page on Sonic Scene, with a score out of 10.

Art and stories made with AI tools are welcome too, as long as you say so: tick the “made with AI tools” box when you submit, and your piece will be labelled.

Keep it suitable for everyone

Lots of our readers are young Sonic fans, so everything you share must be suitable for a general audience. Boss battles, Badniks and a bit of peril are fine, just like in the games and cartoons. Please don’t submit:

  • sexual or suggestive content
  • graphic violence, gore or self-harm
  • hateful, bullying or discriminatory content
  • strong swearing
  • anything illegal or dangerous

Only share your own work

  • Don’t submit art or writing made by someone else, even with credit.
  • Don’t trace or copy other people’s art, official artwork or screenshots and present them as your own.
  • Reviews should be your own opinion in your own words, not copied from a magazine or another website.
  • If you worked with someone else, ask them first and credit them in the description.

Sonic the Hedgehog and all related characters belong to SEGA. Fan works on Sonic Scene are shared for fun, not for sale.

Stay safe

  • Choose a member name that isn’t your full real name.
  • Don’t put personal details in your bio or your work: no age, school, address, phone number or email address.
  • Avatars are characters from the Sonic Scene archive, so there’s no need to upload a photo of yourself.
  • We remove hidden information, such as location data, from every picture you upload.

How moderation works

  • A moderator reviews every submission before it goes live, usually within a few days.
  • Moderators may make small edits before publishing, such as fixing a typo, removing personal details or choosing the right game for a review.
  • We may decline a submission that doesn’t fit these guidelines, and we’ll email you to say why.
  • To keep things fair, new members can share their next piece once their first one is approved, and everyone can share up to three pieces a day.
  • We can remove published work or close accounts that break the rules, especially for repeated or serious problems.

Your work, your rights

You keep ownership of everything you create. When you submit, you confirm that the work is your own and give Sonic Scene permission to show it on the site with your member name as the credit: in the fan art gallery, in the fan fiction section, on game pages (for reviews) and on your profile. If you want something taken down, ask us through the contact form, or delete your account on My account and your work goes with it.

Rings and stamps

Members earn rings and stamps for their Sonic Scene Passport, such as the Artist stamp for a first piece of fan art. They’re just for fun, so please don’t submit lots of low-effort work to collect them.
